The iSSEc (integrated Software and Systems Engineering curriculum) Project was created in Spring 2007
to develop the Graduate Software Engineering Reference Curriculum (GSwERC) – a new reference graduate SwE curriculum that reflects new understandings in how to build software; how software engineering depends on systems engineering; and how software engineering education is influenced by specific technological domains, such as telecommunications and defense systems. GSwERC will be suitable for university-level education leading to a Masters Degree in Software Engineering (SwE).
iSSEc established a curriculum author team to build the reference curriculum. This team is lead by Stevens Institute of Technology and includes dozens of experts from other universities, industry, government, and professional societies (Click here to view the list of participants). In February 2008, the author team released version 0.25 for invited review by 150 members of the SwE and systems engineering communities. Based on that feedback plus other sources of input, the author team created version 0.50, which was released for global review on Friday, October 31, 2008. Review comments on version 0.50 from all interested professionals is sought.
GSwERC version 0.5 Review!
- The latest version of GSwERC-version 0.50-has been added to the iSSEc site. Click here or on the GSwERC logo above to download the PDF. GSwERC is divided into 3 parts: Part I explains the recommended GSwERC curriculum; Part II explains considerations for implementation of a GSwERC curriculum; and Part III explains the way ahead for GSwERC.
- GSwERC version 0.50 is currently in review. Comments will be accepted until January 31, 2009. Please click on the button below, or "GSwERC Review" in the left-hand menu, to review the document. The GSwERC document is over 200 pages; we recognize that you may not be able to review the entire document. Please feel free to review the specific sections most relevant to your expertise and experience.

If you are interested in participating in the development of future versions of GSwERC, please contact Nicole Hutchison or Kahina Lasfer and include which subject matter areas you would be most intereted in supporting.
